Brief Report

REPORT OF  WORLD TELECOMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION SOCIETY  DAY  

The Institution of Engineers (India), Faridabad Local Centre in association with Lingaya’s  Vidyapeeth, Faridabad celebrated World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on 17th May 2018 at Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth, Faridabad attended by 45 delegates .

 

 Er. J.P. Malhotra , in his opening address gave a very thought provoking address stating “Shraddha Gyan Deti Hain, Namrata Maaan Deti Hai, Yogyata Sthan Deti Hain, Teeno Mil Jaye Toh Vyakti Ko Har Jagah Samman Deti Hain”. He gave a detailed description about the definition of artificial intelligence and how they are used in the industries.  He also mentioned that the objective of this Technical Event is to highlight the use of artificial intelligence to deliver the positive impact to communities and people around us to accelerate sustainable development.  

 

To take the session forward and enlighten the audience with the theme, Dr. SVAV Prasad, Dean Research Corporate Affairs, Lingaya’s gave a practical example of positive use of Artificial Intelligence. He explained at length how a knife can be used positively by a Doctor to treat patients and the same knife can be used for unethical work by a criminal. Similarly Artificial Intelligence can be used ethically and unethically. 

 

5 Technical Papers were presented by Academicians and Industry Entrepreneurs.

 

Dr. Sudeshna Chakraborty, Lingaya’s  Associate Professor along with final year Computer Science student Mr. Saurabh  deliberated on  E-Learning using Artificial Intelligence Tools . They mentioned about how artificial intelligence technique  can be used in current e learning system can bring personalized ,adaptive and intelligent services to both students and educators. Er. Pankaj Kumar, Corporate Member IE(I), Computer Science division, gave a practical example of Artificial Intelligence through his mobile phone. He explained at length with a pictorial representation of a man crossing the bridge with the help of a rope and crocodiles under it where he explained that Artificial Intelligence i.e. human is an asset; imbalance on the rope i.e. weak control/security is vulnerability; Possibility of falling down i.e. Improper output from AI device is risk and Crocodiles i.e. AI Destroyer are threats. Ms. Shilpi Singh, Research Scholar, Assistant Professor, Lingaya’s deliberated on Object Recognition using Artificial Intelligence for Face Images. She explained about how face is one of the important features for identification and recognition of human being.  She explained in detail how to formulate face recognition using artificial techniques for improving the recognition rate for different challenges like illumination, expression, poses, age variation and twin face problems. Mr. Jawalkar Dinesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Lingaya’s deliberated on Exploration of Artificial Intelligence Application from Safety, Smart Security and Intelligence.  He discussed about the smart security, privacy, safety and innovative issues in AI application and plugging out the possible hazards and threats. Er. Sameer Kumar, Convener, Technical Committee gave a practical demonstration on IIOT devices. He explained that IOT devices are  the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors and connectivity which enables to connect and  exchange data.

 

The Speech was punctuated with audience interaction, and concluded with vote of thanks by Honorary Secretary, Er. Sandeep Handa. The feedback of the program was very encouraging. The Session provided a new outlook in the context of positive use of Artificial Intelligence and new prospective in terms of the technology. The session was much appreciated by the audience.
